Freelove D. Veazie (maiden name: Richards) was born on November 25, 1827, to Robert Richards and Margaret Newbert. Her father died sometime before 1850. By 1850, she and her mother were living in Hope, Maine, and they owned $400 of real estate. Freelove married Abiezer Veazie on April 19, 1851, and their daughter Freelove Adella was born around 1852. They settled in Rockland, Maine, and Veazie worked as a teamster there. By 1860, they owned $600 of real estate and $300 of personal property. Her husband served in the Union army during the Civil War. By 1870, the family owned $1,500 of real estate and $400 of personal property. They helped care for Freelove’s elderly mother and several of her other relatives. Abiezer died on August 14, 1890, and Freelove applied for a widow’s pension that September. She died in Rockland on March 26, 1896.
