Gentlemen,
I wish to have you agree upon some mode of determining your relative rank in the regiment. The one acted on heretofore, and I think a perfectly just & proper one, is to take rank according to date of appointment as Sergeant, the 1st sergeant taking precedence of the last in regard of position. Let me know if this is acceptable.
