His wife died on January 11, 1857, and he married Mary B. Osborn on December 8, 1858. Their son Charles was born around 1859. By 1860, he owned $5,500 of real estate and $10,000 of personal property, and he employed at least two domestic servants. His wife died in August 1870, and he died in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, on March 2, 1878.
