Dear Sir
At the recommendation of Maj now Colo Rogers I have prepared a stout box lined with tin for the remains of my son Colo NWB to the be sent to the north, whenever it is thought advisable to do so. this box or case was directed to the "Quarter Master 3 Regt Reg R I Artillery. Port Royal SC" at the suggestion of Major Rogers in order to find some person to receive it as he said others might be away
I wrote to Major Rogers giving him some directions for opening the box or case & closing it again after the body is placed within. I [faded]
away, when the letter arrives [faded]
you to [faded] the directions crossed out which will be found on the cover of the tin case inside the outside one of [faded]
I wish you to see that all [faded] Colo Brown are paid if he did not have enough, draw on me at sight for any deficiencies I wish every thing settled
If you possibly can find time acknowledge & receipt of the box & this letter & let me know what time you prepare to remove the remains
I am aware I am asking much of you but knowing your regard & kind feelings, I have not hesitated to write you & have no doubt you will attend to it cheerfully
I hear nothing from [faded] Stickney to whom I wrote for a [faded] of Naths death [faded] obtain back pay & also the [faded]
Please make some enquiries & help me to get them
