Charles R. Brayton to Edwin Metcalf, 11 May 1863
Head Qrs. Battery "C." 3d R.I.A.
Beaufort S.C. May 11th/63
Colonel,
I would like to have Isaac Esleecke of Co L. to do my harness-work as I have but a shoe-maker and he cuts leather to poor advantage and I have much repairing to do. I am ready for the mason to build my oven as soon as convenient for you to send him. I delivered the laddle and your communication to Lieut. Hamner who has no doubt made suitable acknowleagement of both to you. He was much pleased with his promotion and I think deserves it.
Truly yours,
C R Brayton
Col Edwin Metcalf
