Thomas E. Brown to Edwin Metcalf, 31 May 1863
Providence May 31st 1863
Col. Edwin Metcalf
3rd Regt. R.I.V.
Dear Sir Allow me to introduce to you Ord. Sergt Thomas Fiddler of Company G, now, as you are of course aware, at Fort Pulaski. I had not the pleasure of Serg. Fiddler's acquaintance before to day, but gladly comply with his request for this note of introduction. The friend who presented him to me speaks highly of him as a temperate, reliable man. I believe he is an old resident of this city, having learned his trade at Corliss & Nightingale's works.
With assurances of high regard I remain
Yours Most Truly
Thos. E. Brown
