Peter J. Turner to Edwin Metcalf, undated
Worcester Mass

Friend Metcalf
I am in receipt of yours of 24th ulto. My papers are in Newport. As soon as I can go down there I will supply you with a copy of the Invoice required.

I called once at your office to see you. You were out and when there since it has been only for a few hours and busy at that. I do not see the name among the list of officers arrived in New York of George F Wilcoxson and some others that I expected to see but presuming they arrived I write to-day to the Major. I have made an engagement as book-keeper until Jany 1st with the Lumber house I was in before the war. At that time probably a change will be made in the business that will be to my advantage. You know too well my interest in you and all that concerns you to doubt that I have deeply felt for you in your recent affliction. Time will I trust through a higher power console you

It was unexpected to me

Truly Yours
P. J. Turner
