Nathaniel W. Brown to Edwin Metcalf, undated
Dear Major.
I hope to be able to send your horse to day. I send a man from Morrow's command to take care of horse, which man you must send back I also want you to send my compliments to Capt Day & remind him that he has not sent two men back in place of those I sent, at his request as directly as he promised to. I have nothing from you later than Monday 26th.

I should not deem it advisable to allow Olney to go along. his place is with his stores. particularly as you say somebody will have to be left. this opinion is volunteered supposing all are well enough to go. but circumstances may alter proprieties. I should like to write you fully but it is not expedient perhaps to put on paper what I would say. the letter may never reach you or you may lose it. I enclose slips sent to me

I remain
Yours as ever
