William P. Martin to Edwin Metcalf, 23 December 1884
Martin, W. P.
New London,
Decr. 23d /84.
Dear General Metcalf—
I have yours of the 17th & 20th, with Senator Sheffield's notes. I am very greatly obliged. I do hope that yourself and Brayton will do what may be needed, during recess, to have my bill introduced in the House. The introduction last session, does not count—I suppose, dont know though—Will get some help here to induce Hawley to help and perhaps others. Shall do all that I can, of course. My hands are cramped & weak, but thank God I am improving—
Sincerely Yours
over.
W P Martin /
P.S. Will write to Senator Sheffield and many others, but the effective help must of course, come from members of Congress really interested in the case.
I most thoroughly appreciate what has been done.
