Huldah Clements (maiden name: Divine) was born on December 9, 1816, in New York. She married Andrew Clements, and they had at least four children, including Emmett, born around 1840; Joseph, born around 1842; and Arlinda, born around 1849. They lived in Fallsburg, New York, and her husband worked as a farmer. By 1850, they owned $4,500 of real estate. Her husband apparently deserted the family in the 1850s and moved to California.
By 1860, she was working as a farmer in Neversink, New York, and she owned $1,000 of real estate and $400 of personal property. She moved to Ash Grove, Illinois, in the 1860s, and by 1900, she was living in her daughter Arlinda’s household in Berkeley, New Jersey. She died in New Jersey on May 1, 1902.
