Ann Dorothy Divine (maiden name: Mason) was born on March 4, 1828, in New York, to Thomas H. Mason. Her father was a tailor who owned $100 of real estate and $50 of personal property by 1860. She married Bradley Divine, and they had at least four children: Nina, born around 1847; Martha, born around 1849; Isabel, born around 1851; and Winfield, born on November 9, 1852. They lived in Fallsburg, New York, and her husband worked as a farmer. By 1850, they owned $2,000 of real estate. Her husband "deserted" the family in the late 1850s, and by 1860, she was living with her mother-in-law in Fallsburg. By 1870, she was working as a “tailoress,” and she owned $200 of personal property. She died in Fallsburg on March 4, 1908.
