Sarah Carr (maiden name: Higgins) was born around 1795 in Bath, Maine, to Benjamin and Hannah Higgins. She married William Carr, and they had at least two children: John, born around 1833; and Albert, born around 1844. They lived in Bath, and her husband worked as a carpenter. By 1850, they owned $1,000 of real estate. A decade later, their wealth had grown to $2,000 of real estate. She died of “consumption of [the] blood” in Dedham, Massachusetts, on August 4, 1872.
