Sabrina K. Griffin (maiden name: Carr) was born on April 12, 1830, in Waterboro, Maine, to John and Mary Carr. Her father was a hatter who owned $150 of real estate by 1850. The family lived in Limerick, Maine. She married Henry Dustin Griffin, and they had at least three children: Ellen, born around 1852; Ann, born around 1853; and Willard, born around 1857. They lived in Groveland, Massachusetts, and her husband worked as a shoemaker. By 1860, they owned $300 of personal property.
Her husband committed suicide on March 29, 1862. She continued to raise her children on her own while caring for her elderly mother-in-law, and by 1870, she owned $2,000 of real estate. By 1900, she was living in her daughter Ann’s household in Haverhill, Massachusetts. She died there of a cerebral hemorrhage on August 5, 1912.
