Euphemia Witherell (maiden name: Scoon) was born around 1815 in Scotland to Walter Scoon and Elizabeth Young. Her family immigrated to America in the late 1810s and settled in Seneca, New York. They moved to Ossian, New York, in the 1820s. She married Seymour Witherell around 1830, and they had at least five children: John, born around 1831; Susan, born around 1836; Isaac, born around 1838; Walter, born around 1840; and Margaret, born around 1843. They lived in Ossian, and Seymour worked as a farmer. By 1860, they owned $300 of personal property. By 1870, they were living in their son Isaac’s household in Ossian. By 1880, they were living with their son Walter. Seymour died on July 18, 1896, and Euphemia passed away in Ossian on January 5, 1897.
