Ridgebury March 31st /67

Dear Aunt
I take my seat to write a few lines to you hoping they will find you in good health It is something new for me to write to you. I suppose Esther writes often I am glad there is some one to write we used to depend on Hannah to do our writing but she will do it no more poor girl She loved to write I can not tell you how we miss her it seems hard to give her up but we must I trust she is better off than we are today I suppose Esther has told you the particulars concerning her death I should have written to you before but could not get about it when I think about her and see so much she has done but she is done with this world / we all feel very lonely how much I think about your poor Boys that has gone before but so it is all have there share sooner or later trouble comes to all. Aunt Jane I will tell you that Granmother's folks has there hands full to attend to us all some times I think those that are dead is off of there hands you know she had a great deal of trouble with her own children and now it is the gran children I think she will live to see her generation run out I often think of your visit with us how I should like to see you and have a good talk with you I think you take more comfort away from them than you would with them. you must not tell any one what I say. I suppose Mary is a large girl how I should like to see her George and I was over home yesterday It rained all day they are all well but Maria her health is not very / good but so she is around Granmother Cable is smart the last we herd. our horse got kicked and has been lame all winter so we have not been around much but George has got a young one three years old I can not drive it yet it is broke so he drives it some.

Pollie Bennet is gaining She is quite smart E. wrote you about her sickness and Elys death it has been quite sickly around our plase mostly lung fever we have had a very cold winter. George is not very well since he was sick he has a pain in his side if he works the snow is about all gone and I am glad.

how is Uncle Comfort and the rest as Esther has wrote you lately I have not much news to write you well think this is enough without it is better I will try and do better next time my love to you all write soon
