I take this opportunity to inform you of the sad news that that I am to pen (last night between the howers of 12 & 1 oclock last night your husband departed from Earth to a better world we trust he has ben sick with the Diarhea for some time and we done all that we could to comfort him and also the doctor he was going to send him home next week but he was to far gone he died verry easy and with a hope in Christ one of ar men went to him and ast him if he had a hope in Christ he said that he did and he was sencible to the last) he had no thought of dying at all the last words that I heared him say / was why dont thay stop the war
I am a stranger to him but he was laying close by me and I took pity on him and done all that I could for him Some of his friends was here by his side some that say thay are nobors to him but he being a Prositent and thay all Caterlicks I thought that I would do all that I could for him I hope that you will not morn for him for I think that he died with a hope in Christ. weep not for it was the will of God what he [?] on Earth he must take away I will close So good day if fother information should be wanted adress to Chas A Lord Comp F 41 Regt
