Delia Louisa Hibbard (maiden name: Garvey) was born around 1841 in New York. By 1860, she was working as a "domestic" in Palmyra, New York. She married William H. Hibbard on March 24, 1861, and the couple had no children. Her husband enlisted in the Union army in September 1862, and he died in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on June 26, 1863.
She applied for a federal pension in September 1863 and eventually secured one. She married Joseph L. Lines on September 7, 1868, and they had at least two children: Delia, born around 1870; and Francis, born around 1876. They lived in Manchester, New York, and her husband worked as a shoemaker. By 1870, they owned $800 of real estate and $300 of personal property.
Lines died on April 30, 1913. She reapplied for her widow’s pension in September 1916 and eventually received it. She died in Port Gibson, New York, on August 27, 1920.
