Dear Wife it is a long time since i hurd from you it seems so eny way i havent had no chance to right to you be fore this is the 10 day we have ben sailing & we shal sail 8 or 10 days longer that will take us pirty well south we are a going to ship island we are a going to stay their a spel i dont now how long we shal stay their long anuf to get well drild probly 2 month & then we shal march i suppose that we shal take the field there as near as i can find out we shal Dear honey ceep up good corage i do my helth is good yet & i hope that yours is the wether is very / warm hear the boys sleep on deck nights it is so warm hear evry day we sail it gets warmer when we left new york it was freezing cold now we can go with out coat or vest we have ben 4 days with out seing land the first night we saild the wind began to rais so that they darrant run so they cast anker for 12 ours the boat raisd & piched the waves came clear over the deck the guns rold out of the bunks the coffa spilt & the boys began to spue & so they stager from won side of the ship to the other fal & run a round like so meny drunken men they are a going to run in to Port Roil to take in coal they are a bout out of coal i havent much time right Dear honey you must / right as often as you can
 
            Dear honey i wish you woad send me 50 cts worth of postage stamps for i cant get eny hear be shure & do it if you dont i cant right
 
i havent got eny more bounty yet i expecded to get it in new york but i didant i shod got the stamps their but i codant get no chance to the cep a clost gard over us take good cair of that money dont let eny body fool you out of it i cant think if eny more at presant Direct your letter to Washington in cair of Captain H P underhill 160 Reg Company B Genral Banks Corps
