my Dear Wife
i will ansur your kind & welcom letters which i resieved to day & was glad to hear from you & to hear that you was well as it leaves me at presant i havent had a chance to rite be for in 3 weaks we have ben on a march for 3 weaks we have marched 2 huntrad & 20 milds had won battle it lasted won day no body hurt in our company 2 kild in the regmant the big guns don the most of the fiting i tel you the shells did fly for sirtin we drove them out of their entrenshmants tuck a bout 2000 prisners on our march i havent got paper a nough to tel you all the purticklars i will rite a gain when i get in camp i cant tel when that will be i hope soon i have slep on the ground evry night for 3 weaks i am well & harty
i have lots of news to tel you but i aint got paper i have got plenty of paper in camp but that aint hear this will let you know that i aint kild yet it aint mutch fun to face them big guns & i tel you how the guns did rore on both sides but we mad them run & we ar after them yet we ar most to red river i resieved your tea & it was good
