Jonathan Peirce to Francis J. Parker, 29 January 1863
Boston Jany 29th 1863

Francis J Parker

Sir
I have requested payment of you for my bedding &c left in your charge. In your note of yesterday you disclaim any responsibility for it.

I refer you to your letter to me under date of July 19th in which you say, "Lieut Dana has your blanket and I have the other things, if you will tell me their value I will see you paid". Again, in your endorsement upon the back of my letter to you, dated Augst 3d, in which I ordered you to deliver my bedding to Capt A P Martin, you say, "Capt Peirce's blanket &c will be disposed of as he requests".

Now Sir, you have neither disposed of them as I requested or paid for them after I have informed you of their value. I again demand payt of you for the same.

Your reference to my indebtedness to Company C, is a gratuitous insult on your part. I will here state / that I shall be most happy to pay any indebtedness or any claim that Company C may present to me.

In conclusion allow me to say you have instituted a charge which you cannot substantiate.

Respectfully
Jonathan Peirce
