Phineas Jones Stone
Phineas Jones Stone was born on May 23, 1810, in Weare, New Hampshire, to Phineas Stone and Hannah Jones. He married Ann Maria Lindsay on May 16, 1841, and they had at least two children: Phineas, born around 1842; and Joseph, born around 1848. They lived in Charlestown, Massachusetts, and he earned a living as a merchant. He served on the Charlestown board of selectmen from 1839 until 1840 and on the town’s common council from 1850 until 1854.
 
By 1850, he owned $60,000 of real estate. His wife died in the 1850s. He supported the Republican Party, and he served as mayor of Charlestown from 1862 until 1864. By 1870, he was working as a United States assessor, and he owned $100,000 of real estate and $5,000 of personal property. He later served as president of the Charlestown Five Cents Savings Bank. He died in Charlestown on August 12, 1891.
