My Dear Sir,
Your note with a check inclosed, for fifty dollars, dated the 6th inst, was duly received, & as directed, the amount of the check paid to the wife of Capt. H. D. Norton, Co. I. 32nd Regt, Mass. Volunteers;
Mrs. Norton, on receiving it desired me to express to you her thanks for your timely aid & your kind wishes for her welfare, with the assurance that the amount of the check should be returned to you as soon as convenient.
