Nov. 30th/64
Dear Mother,
I rec'd your Flag letter of no date but written about the same time as the one to Mrs Massie. Mr & Mrs M. have treated me like parents. I wish I could make them some little present but the state of my finances won't admit it. Gus was pleased with the pipe Mrs. Campbell sent him. the cartes de visite are good I think. Hanson gives me hopes of being higher than a private. I heard from him he was well. Gus is still in the Hospital at Charl't'ville. Sanders is a sargeant now I am with the command & not a courier any longer. Uncle rec'd a truce letter I expect from Aunt. Len Mackall is with same ward as Gus same disease viz. camp-itch. I am well & hearty & turning out a mustache & imperial a tolerably good one for me. you have no idea how I long to see you all again I dream of you every night on my hard bed
Give my love to Doug & the family much for Aunt & children. My love to the boys. Doug & Fanny's letter recd of the 11th Oct. All the boys are well. Much love for you my dear mother. Yours, R.C. Thomas /
Send me some stamps
