Emmett Woodward to William D. Tucker, 3 April 1862
Purdy April 3d/62.
Dr Tucker
Dr Sir
I send you Genl Order no 9 to which your attention is directed. Genl Orders no 14 requires that a list be made out of all the sick of each regiment with their division & reported to Genl B. R. Johnson. as I have sent you over all our sick the report will be made by you to Genl Johnson. I request that you will not send any of our sick to a general Hospital if it can be avoided. I trust you will be able to make it appear to Genl J that they will be better off in camp even without any medical attention than at a general Hospital with all its inconveniences & lack of attention.
I wish you to look over our splints, bandages, instruments &c and see if they are in good condition & put in such shape as to be easy of transportation.
I will pay you a visit tomorrow if I can
Your friend
E Woodward
P.S. peruse all these genl orders—
W.
