Dear Parents
I Now sit down to pen a few lines to inform you that the Capt and myself are both enjoying the blessings of good health I think Hice is on the gain. He seems to be quite better now for a couple of days and if nothing happens he will get around again after a while but it will be some time first for he is very weak he is so weak that he can not help himself even to eat his meals but he is receiving the best of care in the hospital
Yesterday one of Co. C boys died in the hospital. He died very sudden for he had not been in there over twenty four hours and today the doctors dissected him but I dont know the result as yet. There is quite a number of our Co sick and two have gone to hospital beside Hice. Dick is quite sick to day and I am afraid he is going to have a run of fever. He has been complaining for some time I have not written before since last sunday and I want you to forgive me for not writing sooner as I am getting very lazy and it seems almost like a task for me to write but I like to receive letters as well as any one does / but cant expect letters unless I write now and then an occasional one to you. I received a letter from Ella while she was down to Tioga but have put off writing untill she got back to old Caroline I guess she will think that I dont calculate to write to her but I will do it sunday if nothing happens
As it is time for roll call I will bid you good night
From your affectionate son
Chas W. Personeus
Nov 14th Saturday afternoon
I will finish my letter. Hice had a cold chill this morning and is not so well to day
The rest of us are well
I expect to get my pay this afternoon I am very much obliged to you for those pictures you sent to me I think they are quite perfect I think the girls have both grown a good deal since I left home
It was a real treat for me to see their faces even through a glass—but how much better it would be if they could be be here and talk to us face to face as they used to do but for the present I will content myself by looking at their pictures
No more for the present
Charles. W
