Francis M. Kelly to William Barton, 9 December 1864
Camp Russel W Va
December 9th1864
Mr Barton
Sir
Yours of the 30 ult. is at hand and I will try to give you the information desired. Jack C. Barton was paid $110.00 One hundred and ten Dollars Bounty two Dollars Premium and Thirteen Dollars advance pay on reenlistment before he went home on recruiting servis
After he got back to Charleston in April I think he received his old bounty back pay and pay for cloathing not drawn up to reenlistment
Their is pay due him from November 1863 up to the date of his death and $390.00 Three hundred ninety dollars New Bounty. Besides their is something due him on cloathing not drawn His Final Statement has not been made out yet But Lieut Clarke says he will do it as soon as he posably can he is the man to do it as he has charge of all of Old Company C papers As for comutation on rations, while on recruiting servis that should of been received on contrack and been sent in to the Provost Marshall before he returned to his Regiment. It cannot be got now it is to late now. I lossed comutation on ration in the same way. You can get 1500 per day for the time going to and from the Regiment to place / Rendavus but it would cost moore than it would come to it would not amount to only about five dollars. This is all that I think of at present that can do any good
We are having a little snow storm to night it is very cold for camp life but we have verry comfortable quarters for soldiers
I think of no moore at present but
Remain verry Respectfuly
Your Obedient Serveant
F. M. Kelly
