Dear Parents
I will now try to write you a few lines to inform you that we are both enjoying the best of health and I hope this may find you the same. I received a letter from you this afternoon dated the 15th and was glad to hear from you again It seems good to hear from home when letters come through so quick as my last letters have I received six more postage stamps in my last letter I have now got about 10 shillings worth of postage stamps on hand / so I guess that wont fall short of stamps very soon The bugle has just sounded for religious services but I wont go this time

I see by your letter that you intend to have Gilbert Personeus to work for you a spell I suppose he can tell of some hard times that he has seen while in the service. Co I left here friday with a ponton train for Fairfax Courthouse there to await further orders. Some of the boys in this Reg't have been three sheets in the wind ever since pay day and they have got the old guard house about full again all caused / by strong drink and they cause a great deal of trouble making guard duty a good deal harder for those that are innocent I was glad to hear that Helen Vandemark was getting so smart again and Hice was quite uneasy uneasy about her as well as myself. You wrote that you had some money of mine that was lying idle. Well do with it as you see best for you know better than I do about it I have bought another watch which keeps good time and answers every purpose. It cost me five dollars only. plenty good enough for a soldier I will close for this time from your son
