Dear Parents
I have just finished my dinner and have had a good smoke and will now try to pen a few lines to the loved ones at home Daniel is well and I am ditto with the exception of a sore hand which bothers me considerable lately In the first place I cut it on the corner of a hatchet but did not take much notice of it till a couple of days ago when it began to pain me and I found I had taken cold in the miserable little sore and now it bothers me like sixty but I dont think / that I will be able to get a sixty day furlough on it unless it gets decidedly worse than it now is but it bothers me so that you may look for a short letter this time
I have just done up a couple of cotton balls in a paper to send to Mother so you can see how it grows if they only go through safe at any rate I hope it wont follow the old pocket handkerchief for that must have gone to the old scratch
I will close for this time by bidding you good bye
From one of your Soger boys
Charley W. Personeus
