Dr Uncle:
You ask for information concerning the whereabouts of John Louis his company is stationed at New Ulm, as we have just today got a letter from Jap and they are all well and in good spirits. John has not as yet written back and we have only received two letters from Jap, they have not as yet seen an "Injun" nor do they apprehend my difficulty, I think the boys will be much safer and much healthier in Minnesota than if they were down south. I am now helping father in building his house and expect to come and live here this winter to help work the diggings. Myself and little family,

All well at present,
Your affectionate nephew,
James H Cabanis

Abraham Lanterman /
