Edward Everett Coxe
Edward Everett Coxe was born around 1838 in Pennsylvania to James and Jane Cox. His father was a clerk who owned $700 of personal property by 1860. He grew up and attended school in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and by 1860, he was working as a clerk. He enlisted in the Union army on August 15, 1862, and he mustered in as a private in Company D of the 119th Pennsylvania Infantry later that day. The regiment took part in the Battle of Fredericksburg, the Battle of Chancellorsville, and the Battle of Gettysburg. He was promoted to 2nd lieutenant on January 6, 1863. He was wounded at Rappahannock Station, Virginia, on November 7, 1863, and he died in Washington, D.C., on November 22, 1863.
