Guardhouse Oct. 11th.

I have just learned that a boat leaves for N.Y. in the morning so will finish up that letter and send by it All I have to add is that I am well. I spoke of my appetite being quite poor in one of my letters. I am glad to write that it is better. for more than a week I could find nothing that tasted good but a bottle of wine bitter cured me. after taking them my appetite came to me with a vengeance, could eat anything and everything for a few days and now have a good appetite. In reading over this letter I see I have not answered Grandmothers question. I gave the stockings to Willie and he took them home. I don't that they sold them but I should / think they would write to her about them. Give my to her. tell her that I hope she will soon recover her health.

You must have lots of good times for me, rides &c. Give my love to all the young ladies in B. please remember me to the Hines girls, needn't tell them I called them girls. I think they are fine young ladies. Also eat a good lot of those apples for me. tell Hat to eat a doz "Crandads" for me. I will write to Uncle Will as soon as I can find time. I owe George a letter. hope to fine time to write it soon. I receive the papers, hope you will continue to send them. I sent Willie & Charley Appleton each a paper the other day.

I write very often if you do not get the letters. Good by. Charlie
