Charles Ingersoll to Francis J. Parker, 8 December 1860
Boston Dec 8th 1860

Hon. Francis J. Parker,

Sir,
I am requested by Mr Andrew to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the 7th instant. He is confined to his house by temporary illness, and is directed by his physician to refrain from application to business, and particularly from writing for a few days.

Mr. A. wishes me to say it affords him much pleasure to record as a "volunteer" a true son of Massachusetts, and also to know and to feel that, when the flag of disunion shall rise, all her sons, forgetting former party differences, shall be as one in defence of that Union which they have inherited from their Fathers—And to add that at all times he will be gratified to lean for support and / and advice on such patriotism and personal regard as is expressed in your kind letter.

Very respectfully
Charles Ingersoll
