Coln F. J. Parker
Dear Sir
I have just returned from Camp Cameron and called at two recruiting stations. Also seen Capt Goodhue, and from all the information I can obtain there are not in this vicinity 100 men for 32d Regt. At Cameron Lieut Charles Bowers of Concord has 61 men, the others are distributed among the several recruiting stations. Coln Perkins stopped recruiting 2 days since. The Adjt Genl says they have made all necessary arrangements and does not require my services in recruiting.
I have written to Lieut Pearson twice regarding the canteens &c he has not answered me. Will write again today. I should not be allowed to go on shore if I went there.
There are some twenty men of the Regt at the Fort anxious to join at Washington, about 7 have been / discharged for disability.
Not having recd any letters from you, I do not know in reality the position you consider me as occupying. My name is on the roster at State house as 1st Lieut 32d Regt. Capt Goodhue informs me that having been mustered into the service at Washington, by order of Capt Ruggles Assist Adjt General, I draw pay from the date of my muster.
The men at Cameron need some one to take care of them and I should be pleased to be ordered to the command. I wait your orders however. If you have any thing for me to do here send me word and it shall be attended to—
I hear Capt Stevenson is in the city have not seen him.
Most respectfully
I remain Yours &c
