My Dear Father. As I have nothing of importance on hand to day I will improve the time in writing to you. To inform you that I am well at preasant. The rest of the Boys are all well I believe. The health of this army is tolerbel good at preasant. There was one man died in our company last night. There has bin but two deaths in our Co in 3 months. I recieved a letter from you while Mr. Dorsey was hear. I answered it and sent it home by him and I supose you have got / it by this time. I have got but one letter since and that was from Molley and I have wrote her two letters since I recieved it. I have not had a letter from Jim for some time. Tell him and Jim Vaughan to write and not to forget me. There is no noose of any importance to write about except our battle that we had out at Milton and I will send you Colonel Halls report of it which is a tru report as near as I can judg and I think I can give a tolerbel good guess of what was done out there for I was there all the time it was going on and I was allover the Battle field after it was over. Times are very hard down / hear among the citizens They are destitute of a great many nesesaries of life such as shugar and coffee &c. Potatoes are 5 dollars a bushel and very scarce at that Flour is from 5 to 6 dollars a hundred and every thing in poportion. I wish this fuss was settled so people could comence to make some thing to liv on or else they will suffer before long.

I believe that I have wrote all that I can think of at preasant so hoping to hear from you soon I remain your son giv my love to all the folks at home and excuse my bad writing and I will ad no more at preasant yours truly
