Dear Sister
Recieved your letter this morning dated Oct the 13th and I seat my self to answer it. Your letter found me enjoying the best of health. The rest of the Boys are all well at preasant I believe. We are still camped at Battle Creek. I wrote you a letter last Sunday and stated in it that I thought we would remain hear some time But we got marching orders Monday morning to leave hear this morning so I wrote to Jim and told him we was going to leave & yesterday eavening the order was countermanded / So I dont know wheather we will stay hear or any where else for certain

Well Mollie we have bin a cuntry for some time past that puts me in mind of the Rocky Mountains more than any thing else. Me and Jim Jackson & Bowser to Boys that belongs to our Co. was out in the mountains yesterday. We rolled down all the loose rock that we could find & got lots of chestnuts as many as we could all eat and then come back to camp. We had a nise view of the mountains between Bridgport and Chatinuga We could see Bridgport very plain but we could not see Chatinuga very plain for a / mountain that was between us and there it was so hy that it hid the phamous City of Chaanooga. I saw several curiosites in these mountains but none that could compare with the Rocky Mountains.

Well Mollie I believe I have wrote all that I can think of at preasant. if we move from hear I will write to you and let you know it.

Give my love to all the folks at home

Give my respects to all inquiring friends and tell them to write

Yours truly
Solomon F. Wood Esqr
To Miss Mary Wood
