Dear Sister
I sit my self down this morning to write you a short epistle to let you know that I am in the best of health & in good spirits. I recieved a letter from you yester day dated Oct the 30th It was a very good letter one just like I like to get it told all about what they was doing at home and all about the horses and every thing at home &c Your letter found me in good health and spirits and doing as well as any one could under the circumstances.
We have bin very scarce of food since we have bin hear boath horses and men but we get plenty now. There was one weak that we did not get more than one days rations & the poor animals had to do entirely without. But it was not because we did not have it, it was because we could not get it out hear. But Mollie the poor Rebels has to do without because there rations is allmost exausted. I know this is so because men has diserted the Rebel army and told me so them selves. They average from 40 to 50 diserters per day hear & they say that they are all going to disert & I hope they will I would rather they would come that way than to be made / come because that aint easy done. Well Mollie I dont know what to write I have no news of any importance to write you When you write give me the policulars at home &c I believe I will bring my letter to a close for the preasant as I have wrote so many I have wrote to you and to Net & to Jim & to Boid & Noot today so I guess you will excuse me
Give my love to all the folks at home &c no more at preasant Yours truly
