Solomon F. Wood to Mary Wood, 11 April 1864
BlueSprings Tenn
April 11th 1864
Dear Sister—
I have nothing new to write you as there has nothing new transpired since I wrote to you before. I recieved a letter from Jim this eavening which is the first letter that I have got since I got back. I wrote to him this morning but it was before I got his letter but you can tell him I recieved his letter dated April 4th which is the first one he has wrote since I left home I guess. I have writen to him several times since I have bin hear but I guess he did not git them as the mail / is so verry uncertain. We are still camped at BlueSprings Tenn. and I have not seen any indications of a moove yet. It is thought by some that we will remain hear some time but as for my part I dont pretend to know how long we will remain hear.
We are having some fine weather down hear now but we have had some verry squally weather since I come back down hear. We have a fine camp hear it is situated on the side of a mountain in front of a large valley which is all in cultivation part of the ground is in wheat and we use the rest of it for a perade ground. When we come hear the boys burned some of the rails and and old Gen. Grose has made them make and hall out rails and put up the fence / again. the ground belongs to a loyal Tennesseeing.
Well Mollie the Boys of your acuaintance are all well at preasant and doing well
We will see good times as long as we stay hear but when we leave then comes the tug of war but I hardly believe we will see as hard times again as we have seen
Write soon and give me the news in full of Woodriver
Give my love to all the folks at home and tell them to write.
Sergt Pascal E. Prewitt send his respects
I remain your
Brother until death
Yours truly
Solomon F. Wood
