Dear sister
I supose you will be some what surprised to hear of my being in this place but maby not surprised so mutch surprised when you hear why I am hear. On the 10th of this month I was awkward enoughf to cut my foot I think if I had have struck it one more lick as hard as the one I did hit it I would have split it clear into so you may know I struck it a good lick for my foot is tolerbel large.
I am now in the field / hospital at Chattanooga I am well treated hear as I could ask and my foot is getting along very well and I think it will soon be well. I can nock round on it so I get along very well. I expect I will be sent to Nashville in a fiew days they are sending those that are slightly wounded every day. still I would like to have you write for fear I am not sent to Nashville. If I am sent to Nashville I will write as soon as I get there and let you know where to direct your letters to me. If you write to / me hear direct to Wood General field hospital Chattanooga Tennessee
Tell Jim to write and all the rest of the folks give my love to my Parents and the rest of the folks at home so no more at preasant but remain
