April 5th 1865
Dear Sister—
I recieved your kind letter some time ago and have neglected answering until the preasant time for no other reason onley that I have been to lazy to write.
Your letter found me well The Boys hear of your acuaintance are all well I believe and enjoying themselves
Well Mollie I have nothing new to write you in the way of news as there is nothing new going on hear. We have had a great time hear for the last days about the great victory that our troops has won lately in capturing Richmond the Rebel capital I hope it may end the Rebellion as some seam to think it will.
Mollie I wish you could have been hear when the news come to camp. They peraded all the garison and we have two of the best bands hear in the state and they boath plaid all they could and they fired 100 salutes and just plaid hob generally if putting on style / will end the Rebellion I think it is over now like the fellow was by going on the cars if he went on the cars he was there before he started
Well Mollie my time is some nearer out than it was when I wrote before so I guess I will be out some time if the war never ends
Well I guess I have wrote enough for the preasant
Give my love to all the folks at home and else where yours truly

You can tell Jim and neelia and net that I recieved their letters yesterday and I will answer soon and I got one from Capt Hodge yesterday. And since I thought I believe I have answered your letter once before but as I have this wrote I will send it
