General
Lt D. S. Donelson having served as Asst Inspector General on the Staff of Col Jno D Martin and more recently as Asst Adjt General of the brigade which I had the honor to command, I can testify to his worth as an officer. I recommend him as a brave efficient and intelligent officer, of good moral character; and feel satisfied that he will fill with honor and credit any position in which he may be placed.
