William W. Witherspoon to Daniel S. Donelson, 5 January 1864
Head Qrs. 36th Miss. Inftry.
Enterprise, Jany 5th 1864.

Lieut.
Yours of the 21st ult. has just been received, and I reply at once. I am greatly oblige for the prospects of the much desired artickles, and hope they have not caused you but little extra trouble.

We are all exchanged, and well armed, and have gone regularly to work again. You are also exchanged if you reported at Parole Camp by the 6th of Nov, November/63. I would think it best for you not to be absent without leave, as the books are kept rather strict against absent Officers, / and a few days absents without leave might do you very great harm in the future

The 37th for a few days refused to take armes, but finally came to terms, and are on duty at this time.

We have no news that you have not heard.

I am Lt. Very respectfully
Your Obt. Sevt.
W W Witherspoon
