Dear Brother
I just received your letter & was glad to hear from you but would be more so to see you the last time I wrote you I was very poorly but I am a great deal better now I had a very large piece of bone taken out of my wound a few days ago & since then I have been on the gain I am feeling better now than I have since I have been wounded I am in hopes that the last piece of bone has come out if it has I think I shall get along now but I shall never have the use of my shoalder / I suffered greatly before that bone came out the doc tried two mornings to pull the bone out he reached in my wound with his forseps & got a hold of the bone & pulled on it until they sliped of three times but it would not come it seemed to me as though he would tear me into I tell you the tears & snot flew the third morning the bone had nearly worked out itself I was laying down when the doc took it out & when I raised up the coruption ran out a stream as large as my finger I tell you Brother dear I have suffered almost death & I am far from being well yet / but I feel encouraged more than I ever have before the doc says it is remarkable how I have kept up I am as fleshy as a pig I weigh 152 lbs some diferance between now & when you was here last June but as fleshy as I am I have but little strength
Well William I guess I have written about all that is nessessary for this remember me to all the folks you must come & see me as soon as you can I hope I will be able to go home with you but I have some doubts in regard to that as yet
I remain as ever
