Dear Father
it is with pleasure that I seat my self this morning to write you a few lines to let you no that I am well at presant and hoping these few lines will find you all in the same state of health well there is nothing new going on heare at presant only that we expect to halve a big move soon we expect to go to richmond this time but I cant tell wether we will get there or not but I think that we will halve some hard fighting to do be fore we get there and some hard marching for it is the time of year that the roads gets very / mudy in this courntry and the nights are getting prety darn cod
 
Well I will tell you that we got paid yester and we are sending some of our money to george Cooper in Jackson and we want you to get it I sent $20 dollars Abe Rhodes sent $15 dollars he wants you to get it and give it to hen and Marton Pyle sent $45 dollars and he wants you to get it and give it to Rosy Shaffer when she calls for it mind give it to Rosy for she is the one he wants to get it Acle Shaffer sends $15 dollars and he wants you to get his and give it to Rosy Shaffer mind and tell her how much each of them sends so she will no well I gess I halve told you a nuff a bout the money 
 
Well I gess I will haft to close for it is getting to darn cold to write my fingers are getting stiff I cant hardly hold the pen Just as soon as you get the money write and let me no wether it is all wright or not well I will close by sending you all my best respects nothing more at presant but remain your
