anumber of our boys writing now writing to their dear ones that they left be hind them I would like to see you better than any friend that I hav got dont you think that I am a grate boy or not to talk that way I can see one house that is tenn mild from hear it is within tenn miles of bulls run the boys has got one of our men almost scared to deth they tell him that the rebels is comeing and he is crying he aint very sharp he is crying like a baby O nan it is warm hear I am setting in my tent writing and the sweat is running of me if I was malling rayls I dont no how it will be when we get on dres prade we will haf to sweat then I am going to send you my profile in this letter you must not get scared at it will you
I was out one hour hunting for water before I could get any and three cents a tin full I like camp life you see camp spelt in big words one of the boys hit my arm you must excuse it I like camp life very well so far we get hard grub some times we got our breakfast in washington and the meete was spoilt their is a regiment on dres parade now and it looks nice after dresparade we was on dresparade we was on one our we hav to train 8 hours a day it will make us sweat I think good morning nan one nite in virginnia it has rained som to nite I hav got a bad cold we hav to get up at four oclock and drill one hour before breckfast their is quite astur in camp now their is about 30 thousan in camp / or at least I herd them say so did you go down to bristol if you did let me now your joiney and how you past the time did you see uncle Samuel is he well I wrote to letters last summer and I never got an answer yet I dont now wheather he is mad at me or not I thought a grate deal of uncle Samuel
Dear nan it is weat this morning and I cant get my likeness taking to send it in this letter but as soon as it stops raining I will get it and send it to you answer this as soon as you get it nan and write me long letters and iwill do the same for you can write letters I wish that I could write as good as you can I will write to you evry to weekes if you answer them I will hav to draw / to a close for to go and drill I bid you good by and I wish you mutch happiness and may God protect you from all harm and you must rember that this is not our home for we are fast hasting down to the grave whear we never return
