Alexander Kennon was born around 1800 in Ireland to Newell Kennon and Jane Wilson. He eventually immigrated to America and settled in Belmont County, Ohio. He married Margaret Dunn there on February 7, 1828, and they had at least five children: William, born around 1829; Jane, born around 1832; Samuel, born around 1834; James, born around 1838; and Mary Ann, born around 1840. His wife died sometime in the 1840s, and he married Emily Jones on January 24, 1848. They had at least five children: Margaret, born around 1849; Edward, born around 1851; Emma, born around 1855; Carolus, born around 1860; and George, born around 1863. Kennon worked as a farmer in Warren, Ohio, and by 1850, he owned $3,440 in real estate. A decade later, he owned $10,400 of real estate and $1,000 of personal property, and by 1870, that wealth had grown to $14,650 of real estate and $2,014 of personal property. Emily died in 1878, and he passed away in Warren on December 29, 1884.
