                I have the honor to request a detail for work on the Fortifications under Lieut R. Q. Cobb, as follows,
 
            (2000) Two thousand working men, Four Field, and the regular Company Officers. The men to report one Thousand at 5 o'clock a.m. Friday the 7th inst. and one Thousand to report at 7 o'cock a.m. same day. Those men will be worked in reliefs of two hours each. Five reliefs each day. One thousand men at each relief. Two hours will be allowed for dinner.
 
            This detail will relieve the detail asked for on the 28th ulto. for Five Hundred men, &c. They will not be required to bring any rations except dinner.
 
            Will you also please order the Field Officers see that the men are not permitted to straggle away from the works, but remain on the ground until dismissed by Lieut Cobb. also that all the orders given respecting work by either the Lieut, or / his junior officers be obeyed strictly.
 
            Please let this detail report day by day until further orders. Alternating each day, the 1000 reporting one morning at 5 o'clock to report the next morning at 7 o'clock and "vise versa".
