Camp near Whiteoak Church
May the 27th 1863

My Dere and beloved sister it is with plesher that I take my pen to drop a few lines to let you know that I am well at present and I hope that theas few lines may find you in the same state of helth and I will also let you know that I received your kind letter of the 19th of may with the picture and I am very glad for the picture I think it is a very good picture I did not expect to see you down here in old verginia but I am very glad to see you but I would rather if I could see you in old venango County but never mind I will be home theas sumer sometime

I expect the war will be over som time theas sumer it cant shrely last long anymore our solders in the west it appers that thay had very good success genrel grand is driving them out of wicksburg and if genrel grand is succesful in driving them out of wicksburgh it wont be much of a job to take richmond

the army of the potomac has a very hard place to take that is our army I mean genrel hoockers army but you see if the army in the west will succete in whiping the rebels at wicksburgh it will be but a small job for our army to take richmont I think the rebelion will be over sone

we are now under marching orders but I dont know how sone we will march nor do I know whare to and meabe not at all but I dont think that we will be into any bettle very sone and meabe non at all anymore I hope our army dont neat to do any fighting anymore for I am tired of fighting I have seen about as much fighting as I care about but if the war cant be setelt with out then fight it is I would rether stay in the army five years yet then to let the rebs rule over us but I think thare is no danger of that we are a going to whip the rebs theas summer and til fall we will all be at home

one of theas letters is for Mr Loyd from a man out of the 142 regt he gave me the letter and told me to pot it along with mine and you are to give it to Mr Loyd. I have seen two men out of the 83 regt and the told me that george was well I have som notion to go and see brother george some of theas days if we dont march to sone the lay about five miles from us I will now close my letter the next time I may be able to give you more news no more at present but yours truly Isaac W Fry
