Ira,

My Dear boy,
How many times have I thought of my dear little boys in Kidder since so many miles have been placed between us. in coming to this country I saw some beautiful sights / over mountains (some of them capped with snow) and rivers, plains, and through valleys. I wished that all of my boys had been along they would have enjoyed it so much. we crossed one tressle that was 226 feet from the ground If I were to try I could not tell you the beautiful country that lies between us, but you must hurry / up with your studies and learn fast and when you are a man come west; unless your parents come before that time, and bring you. We are having very warm weather here now but we have one advantage we can go up the mountains where it is cooler I spent three days & night last week 16 miles away up on the summit of / the Blue mountains we took food & bedding and camped out had a good time came back very much refreshed and brought several gallon of huckleberries that we gathered in the meantime. Please write me how you are prospering in S.S. and all of the pleasant times you are having there. With love to my dear little boy from his loving Teacher.
