                        Yours of the 2nd come to hand last Saturday and I have concluded to answer it this morning I must confess I hardely no what to wright to you but you speek of my staying in the Hospital as long as I can I think I have a good long streek of it and I may stay hear a good while longer and I may be sent away before you get this so you can see a soulger dose not no from one day to another what will be done with them but I am in hopes I shall be well enuf to go back to my Regiment soon for I feel that that is the plase for me so I can do my duty to my / countury Scence I have writen you the above I have been down town and saw Andrew thay was after him yesterday but thay did not get him so I read your letter to me to him there is one other thing I wish to write to you we have got a verry strict guard on here but I get out and the Ward master wants to no if I want a ticket for soup I told him yes so I have got my ticket and I will get my supper with out any troble so you will see by this that we have to go through all of the [?] that is composed in the statuets of the United States if you do not wish to comply with the regulations then thay will put you under arrest and put a fellow in the guard house whilest I am writing / the guard has just come in carred one man to the Guard House but I have keep cleen of it so far and I rather think that I am smart enuf to go clear I saw Andrew yesterday and thay was after him the day before but thay did not cetch him I see that I writen about Andrew before but nevour mind it is to much troble to begind another and it will not hurt you to read it over twise for it helps fill up the letter I hope this will find the chrildren well and Mother You say that Addeline dose not stay with you I hope she will allways be handy for she is so good if you or the chrildren are sick and if nothing happonds I will pay hir for it all one of these days when you write again I want to know how Mrs Robbins gets along / I surpose Lewis paid his three hundred Dollars then to come out here and go through the hard ships of a soulgers life well I do not blame him any I want to no when you wright again if Father said any thing about moving back to the [faded] I think you had better stay where you are I should like to no what kind of folks you live with that is wether thay are conseable or not becaus I would not live in a teniment one day if I did not like it Sarah this is a mean letter but I do not no what to wright to you but I hope this will find you well and getting along nicely tell Henry I will send him a knife the next time I wright so he must be a good boy and Father will come home again Yours Joseph
