Catharine Dear wife this is the 28th in the evening and our horses will not start till morning and I have bought a good gentle horse for you and if he suits you keep him and ride him and carry billy about to see the neighbors and if you dont like him sell him as your own property for I hold no claim on him you remember I received all of your money of your fathers estate and never paid it to you and now I offer you this horse for your pay I gave $80 for him and I think he is worth $125.
 
Father the reson I got this horse I thought that your old horses would not be able to make another crop and I want you to make him urn his doo the old man Dameron knows all about him I borrowed Thomases money and paid five dollars down and is to pay 75. when I draw it              I have just received a letter from you by J. Sarten that gave me much pleasure to hear that you was all well but sorry to hear that you have been tole that that I play cards I say it is a pine blank lie and I want you to tell me who tole you such a tale tell pegg that I tole tommy before they was married that she was not fit to tie too and for her to quit hunting lies to tell or times will be bad and I think tommy has stoopt very low to try to make more mischief this he owned in the presence of witnesses

Catharine I have but little to say about how to get along at home but I say if you cant get along better than you did before I left to move your home gran mother was anxious for you to go to her house & Anderson Wallace begged me for you to go to his house till I got so tyard of hearing it I went off and left him talking to me father would treat you well if pegga want let him alone but you know that he is bothered so he cant do as he would so I say as she has got no neighbors nor no other place to go to for you to select another home for you cant last long and do the work you have to do there S[?] refused to go there on acount of pegga and I say for you to move all your goods and live where you can be treated like somebody
 
I have got all my beding and clotheing with me I must come to a close so nothing more but remaining your affectionate husband until death
